NUMISATO — The Physical Bitcoin Archive

The archive, explained

Sources & photography

An archive is only useful when you can trace its information. Our records link to the evidence behind the object and credit the people who made its images available.

Follow the evidence

Each record includes its sources: maker announcements, product specifications, auction descriptions or collector references. These sources can describe different specimens, editions or moments in a product’s history. We identify those distinctions where the evidence allows.

A year on an object is not always its release year. An announced edition limit is not necessarily the number produced. A seller’s description is not independent authentication. Identification notes explain known conflicts and limits; details that are not established remain unknown.

Original prices and early offers

We record original issue prices when a dated maker or issuer source supports the specific issue and variant. Original retail prices identify the seller separately. A historical maker offer is labelled as such when the evidence does not establish the launch price. An edited announcement does not necessarily preserve its launch-day price.

Prices are per the quantity and version described, in the original currency. We identify known tax, shipping and Bitcoin funding terms; unstated terms remain unknown. Face value and stored Bitcoin are not the purchase price. These are documented asking prices, not proof of a completed sale or a current market valuation.

We do not treat a current shop price, a sold-out listing without dated price evidence, or an auction estimate as an original issue price. We do not convert historic BTC or foreign-currency prices using today’s exchange rate. Missing prices remain undocumented until supporting evidence is available.

An archive in progress

NUMISATO is an independent reference for physical Bitcoin coins and collectibles. The published records are not a complete list of every issue or variant ever made. We continue to reconcile source inventories, distinguish variants and add missing photographs.

A photograph may show an example of a type rather than the exact variant in a record. Check its caption and the identification notes. An image does not establish a collectible’s authenticity, condition, ownership or current Bitcoin balance.

Credit beside each image

Images are reproduced under the specific Creative Commons licence or direct permission identified beside them. Copyright remains with the respective rights holders. Permission to display an image on NUMISATO does not give visitors a new licence to reuse it.

Power Coin has permitted use of its coin images depicting Bitcoin, with the exact clickable credit Image courtesy of Power Coin beside each image. We retain that credit on archive cards and in image galleries. This acknowledgement does not imply endorsement of NUMISATO.

Selected auction photographs were supplied by Heritage Auctions. Other images include maker photographs and individually licensed contributions. Consult each image’s credit and original source for its attribution and stated terms. Supplier product images may be promotional illustrations or renderings; they should not automatically be treated as photographs of a delivered specimen.
